AN INTERVIEW WITH ANTHONY RUGGIERI
Question 1 :Please let me know something that you believe in OR few punchlines from your books?
Answer : I’m only 13 but I believe in being kind to others and if you work hard at something, you can reach your goals. I believe in caring for animals and the planet. I believe there are more important things in life than material things, which comes up in my book, Through The Shadow Forest.
Question 2 :Are you happy about being an Author?
Answer : Yes. I am having a good time with it and I am working on my second book.
Question 3 :What’s your inspiration as an author?
Answer : My mom says I have an active imagination. I just write stories as they come to me.
Question 4 :What are the best things or positive things about your stories ?
Answer : There is a lesson in the stories that might be about what’s important or facing your fears.
Question 5 :Which book or books have you published and which are in pipeline?
Answer : I published Through The Shadow Forest which is on Amazon. It’s an adventure story. I am working on my 2nd book but I haven’t made a final decision on the title. It is a adventure/comedy about a family vacation. I am also working on a book with my mother for younger kids called, Kylo.
Question 6 :How to deal with a “Writer’s Block”?
Answer : I just walk away and come back when something pops in my head.
Question 7 :Any “Top tips” for writers starting out?
Answer : I think you just have to start writing and get it all out and then go back and clean it up. That works for me. I don’t even worry about grammar at first. I just get it all out.
Question 8 :What are the problems that you have faced in your Author journey?
Answer : Well, I did most of my illustrations but learned the hard way that you can’t just draw something and it appears in your book. You have to learn about publishing and you have to be patient.
Question 9 :How did you approach the writing process? Do you have a set routine or does it vary?
Answer : I do not have a routine and I do not put pressure on myself. Not sure if that is good but that’s what works for me.
Question 10 :For you , what makes a great story ?
Answer : I like when a story pulls me in right away. I like adventure.
Question 11 :What Genre of Books do you create and Why you chose it ?
Answer : I’m pretty new at this. My first book is a children’s adventure (chapter) book for ages 8-12 years. My next one will also be for children ages 8-12 and the one I’m working on with my mother will be a book for little kids.
