AN INTERVIEW WITH 11 YEAR OLD AUTHOR : SEAN SULLIVAN

Read Time: 3 minutes
  • Your Name and about yourself.

I’m Sean Sullivan. I’m 11 years old Eurasian boy from Sydney Australia. My father is Irish and my mother is Filipino. I am the author of Bobby No Luck. I love reading, writing, listening to music and doing art work. Although I enjoy doing a lot of things, my passion is my sports. I do competitive swimming, Hapkido training and I play soccer.

  • Are you happy about being an Author?

Yes for sure. Writing gives me something to do in my spare time. It’s fun and it helps expand my imagination.

  • What’s your motivation as an author and what have you learnt from writing books?

My motivation would be to hear people appreciating my work and see them smiling while reading my books.

I learnt that writing takes time. Sometimes, the next part does not just pop into your head so you have to give yourself time to think of ideas.

  • As an author, what do you think are the positive things about your writing/stories/publications?

Children can relate to my stories and my humor because I am a child myself.

My first published book “Bobby No Luck” is a fun book to read. Younger kids will love it. It’s a sweet story they can relate to and learn from about accepting disappointments and see the good side of it. It is a story about friendship, kindness and acceptance. I think children needs to learn these three important and wonderful lessons in life.

  • Which book or E-books have you published and which are in pipeline? ((You can also write about each of them if you wish to.))

Bobby No Luck is the first book I published. Part 2 is in the pipeline but I am currently working on my second children’s book. I can’t reveal anything about it until it’s published.

  • What’s your advice for budding authors?

I am a budding author myself so I’m hoping to get some advice from other experienced and successful authors out there. Hopefully, they will comment on this page with their advice.

  • Do you believe in “Writer’s Block”?

Yes for sure. You have to allow yourself some time to think of great ideas.

  • What are the problems that you have faced in your Author journey?

This is my first book. Like everything else you do for the first time, there is always a learning process. I am new to book writing and publishing and I still have a lot to learn. Not knowing the process and lack of experience can make the journey more challenging, but I consider this opportunity to learn and grow in the industry. There are also many support groups for authors and I am thankful for the support I’m getting from the author community.

  • What Genre of Books do you create and why you chose it?

At the moment, I am enjoying writing children’s humor stories. So for now, I would like to focus on this genre. I chose it because I was told that I have a good sense of humor and since I am a child myself, most children can relate and will find what I write funny.

  • If you could tell something to your younger writing self, what would it be?

I am still young and I just started writing. I think I will refer to this question again in the future and I will answer it then.

  • Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want?

Both. I take requests but I try to be as original as I can.

  • Where can people contact you?
