AN INTERVIEW WITH ESHY ACHARYA

Read Time: < 1 minute

Hello, my name is Eshy Acharya.

I’m double masters in Marketing Management from Pune, India. Although I’m a minimalist but in the matter of knowledge I’m a greedy hoarder. I strongly believe there is always a big scope to learn and re-invent things and no knowledge goes waste. Every learned word helps you to build your own destiny.

I have done multiple jobs and all those quirky jobs lead to me to the epiphany of writing, kind of… ‘blessing in disguise’. Currently, besides being an author I’m working as a blogger, content writer and assistant scriptwriter for a web series.

Are you happy about being an Author?

Happy is not the right word. I would say ecstatic, thrilled and blissful every day to be an Author. It is like a ‘Dream come true’. I know it’s a history’s oldest cliché but it’s the best to explain.

Since my childhood, I’m into writing poems and short stories but didn’t have the courage to choose writing as a mainstream career.

Being an author means you have the freedom and responsibility to create and write and read something every day. And trust me, it’s a true blessing. Maybe it won’t fetch much money for you to pay the bills but the satisfaction and happiness of creating a story are beyond every worldly pleasure.

It appears like your purest-softest heart is scribbled on the white paper. Writing stories and being an author is a kind of living wonder and magic too!

What's your motivation as an author and what have you learnt from writing books?

My everyday motivation is nothing but my own drive and emotions that I want to pour out. Being an emotive person I’m too inclined and fetched by the human emotions and feelings and these human sensations compel me to write about it. All my writings are like my eudemonic reflection of my soul.

While writing books I’ve learnt a lot. Majorly about creativity. It is an intrinsic factor if you weigh or calculate or seek its acceptance in the extrinsic world then you do injustice to it. The true rewards of all the creativity or art emerge inside. It is a very within factor, so don’t smear it by comparing it to the outer or existing written work.

As an author , what do you think are the positive things about your writings?

My stories and writing revolve around true human emotions and feeling. It helps the reader to empathize with the character and thus they connect better with stories and plot. Whether is it realistic fiction or fantasy, I emphasize a lot on human sensitivity and compassion.

Which book or E-books have you published and which are in pipeline?

I have released ‘Nightmare And Sunshine: A short story collection’ which has already become Bestseller in Short Stories and Anthologies category on Amazon. It has also topped on the Amazon Hot New Release. Nightmare And Sunshine is realistic fiction with eleven short stories based on the pandemic theme.

Currently, I’m at the final draft of a fantasy novella based on the theme of mind exploration with the help of hidden dreams.
With that, I have started working on another fictional novel based on the theme of OCD.

Do you believe in "Writer's Block"?

Absolutely not! There is no such thing as “Writer’s Block”; it is just another glorified marketed term for ‘fear’. If you’re surrounded by any sort of fear, in whichever way, let’s say self-doubt or low confidence then it will lead you to fear and eventually stops you to write; that we call it as a ‘Writer’s block’.

So better be fearless and write and just write for yourself and the better inner peace irrespective of any doubt. It doesn’t matter if you write shit because it supposes to happen this way only.

What are the problems that you have faced in your Author journey?

We need to understand first, this journey supposed to be bumpy and thrilling and only your perseverance, determination and focus can help you to survive it.
With each passing phase, new struggle arrives! Before starting it was self-doubt.

And my biggest challenge was to conquer it, as I was constantly in suspicion whether I’m doing right or wrong. When I started, it was consistency. When I finished, it was editing. Afterwards finding a publisher for it. I was continuously searching on the web, the places where I can send my manuscript. It took months to get the response.

Meanwhile, I was searching for self-publication. I compared both of it and took a calculative risk to deny traditional publishing and go for self-publishing. So far I’m happy with my decision. Once found publisher its Marketing, distribution and selling of the book. And trust me, it is another herculean task and patience is the only key.

Last but not least is coming to your writing desk and creating a new craft.

What Genre of Books do you create and Why you chose it ?

Realistic fiction, fantasy, contemporary romance and short stories. My simple reason is whatever naturally comes to me I write.

If you could tell something to your younger writing self , what would it be ?

Hey! Why you wasted your so many years in self-doubt and fear?

Do you try more to be original or to deliver to readers what they want ?

Frankly speaking, I just write what is true to my heart and soul. Because I have a deep faith, truth is always appreciated.

What's your advice for budding authors?

Be true to yourself and don’t think much instead just write and write and write. There is no substitute and advice can help you unless and until you move beyond your fear and write.
