AN INTERVIEW WITH KATHY VARNER
Kathy is passionate about her work and knows what it takes to lay the plate – whether it’s books or home!
Are you happy about being an Author?
Writing is my passion. I’m self-taught, although my mother was a wonderful writer. She inspired me first and foremost.
What's your motivation as an author?
When I decided to write a memoir, it was not because I thought anyone would care about my life. It was because I had a message to share about an untraditional approach to mental illness that worked for me.
Although, there are a few good stories in there. I’ve experienced a lot!
Which book or books have you published and which are in pipeline?
Wacky on the Junk, a memoir is published.
What's your advice for budding authors?
Read advice from the pros. I thought I was a decent writer, then I read Stephen King’s On Writing. Google “writing advice from famous authors.” It really helped me.
I prefer writing that is not too heavy on details. Read through your writing. If the detail is not important, consider omitting it. I am also not a fan of the overuse of profanity. The writing should stand on its own.
How do fight out a "Writer's Block" if you have one ?
Force yourself to write. It can bring inspiration. If you are still feeling blocked, do not be hard on yourself. It’s quite common. Meditation helps.
What are the problems that you have faced in your Author journey?
Selling books!
What Genre of Books do you create and Why you chose it ?
Nonfiction. I love real life stories.
Where can people contact you ?
What can readers expect from your writings?
My books are all relatable to the readers.
