Author Interviews

AN INTERVIEW WITH MICHELLE ARSCOT

Read Time: < 1 minute

Are you happy about being an Author?

Yes, I can’t quite believe that I am an author. It is a dream come true. I have always loved writing from a very early age and also reading. You will always find my nose in a book.As a consequence, I have a vivid imagination and lots of ideas.

Before I became a kids Life Coach, I started off as a Primary school teacher and my specialism was literacy. So, through teaching children reading and writing I have created many stories

What's your motivation as an author?

I am motivated to write inspiring stories with exquisite illustrations that make children think. I also want to write books that help children to develop their social and emotional needs, as this is the field I work in as a kids’ life coach.

What is best thing about your write up ?

The importance of following your passion and achieving your dreams. To do ‘work’ that you love doing so that you wake up every day feeling alive and motivated. You only have one life.

I am so grateful that this is my path and I do what I enjoy.
It was also great to release my book at this worrying time as it was very much a silver lining and something to focus on whilst in lockdown.

The themes of ‘Jake’s Joyful Bubbles’ gratitude, nature and the loving kindness meditation are the things that have kept me going through 2020 and now 2021, so an important reminder for me.

Which book or books have you published and which are in pipeline?

I have published ‘Jake’s Joyful Bubbles,’ and the sequel is in the pipeline, which will focus on Jake’s worries and how he overcomes them.
I also have my first written book waiting to be published. A wonderful story supporting children to help them navigate friendship issues and potential bullying.

How do you fight out a "Writer's Block" if you have one ?

Have a break, go for a walk, change your environment. Don’t pressure yourself, find a way to relax and then return back to your writing.

What are the problems that you have faced in your Author journey?

Technical issues when publishing.
Understanding the marketing process and staying on top of it. Making time for these crucial areas. For example, keeping the momentum with regular social media posts getting. Also, the continual quest for reviews.

What Genre of Books do you create and Why you chose it ?

Children’s fiction: Mindfulness and Meditation, Social and Emotional Wellbeing all related to my work as a kids’ life coaching work.

What does your typical writing day look like ?

Working at my desk looking at my lovely garden view or sitting in my bed with a nice cup of tea and writing.

Where can people contact you ?

People can contact me through my website michellearscottbooks.com or on FB and IG @the international life coach and also FB @the international kids life coach.

What's your advice for budding authors?

My advice for budding authors is to keep going, getting an accountability partner can help. I got a writer coach/mentor which was invaluable. It was great having weekly sessions to keep me focused and on tracks with my goals.
